MINSK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB) and Poland's Foreign Intelligence Agency on Tuesday conducted a five-for-five prisoner swap at the border of both countries, the KGB said.
Five people convicted in Belarus and Russia were swapped for five citizens of Belarus, Russia and other member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States who were previously held in EU and other countries, the Belarusian KGB said.
The operation, prepared for about a year under Belarusian presidential direction, involved intensive coordination with intelligence services from seven countries, according to the KGB.
The KGB thanked Russia's Federal Security Service for its crucial cooperation, citing its vital role in overcoming complex challenges. ■
