MOSCOW, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were injured in a drone attack on the Russian city of Novorossiysk overnight Monday, Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram.

Two of the injured are children living in a private house, according to Kondratyev. All the injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Kondratyev described the situation in Novorossiysk as "the most serious," saying that six apartment buildings and two private houses were damaged in the attack, and debris was also found on the premises of several enterprises.

Kondratyev added that Krasnodar Krai has been under a massive drone attack since Sunday morning, with efforts to repel it ongoing.

Novorossiysk is home to one of the largest seaports on Russia's Black Sea coast, with passenger and cargo terminals as well as an oil-loading harbor. It also hosts a naval base of Russia's Black Sea Fleet.
