MOSCOW, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Russia has registered 65,109 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, the highest single-day increase to date, taking the national tally to 11,173,300, the official monitoring and response center said Monday.
The country's nationwide death toll grew by 655 to 326,767, while the number of recoveries increased by 21,714 to 10,045,336.
Meanwhile, Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported a daily record of 19,509 new cases, taking its total to 2,194,045.
There are currently 801,197 active cases in Russia, while the mortality rate from COVID-19 infections stands at 2.92 percent. ■
