KABUL, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Construction has commenced on a major electricity supply project in northern Afghanistan's Sari Pul province, the provincial government office said on Friday.
According to the official statement, the project is valued at 880 million Afghanis (about 13.75 million U.S. dollars). Once completed, it will provide electricity to around 27,600 families, helping improve living conditions and support local economic activity.
The initiative is also expected to create employment opportunities for around 500 people during its implementation.
The project marks an important step toward strengthening infrastructure and addressing long-standing energy shortages in the province. ■
