ALMATY, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh ministers on Tuesday outlined plans to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across key sectors of the economy at a government meeting.

Kazakh Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov announced multiple projects, including an AI-based system that analyzes the movement of petroleum products, forecasts reserves by region, and helps identify risks of overstocking or shortages in advance. The system is expected to generate economic benefits of up to 22.5 billion tenge (about 49 million U.S. dollars) annually by improving planning accuracy by up to 85 percent.

He also announced an AI system for real-time monitoring of oil wells and a robotic system to diagnose the condition of heating networks through in-pipe inspections using acoustic resonance.

In the subsoil use sector, specialists have developed an interactive AI-powered map of underground minerals to accelerate the digitization of geological archives, with one terabyte of data already uploaded into a unified system, Minister of Industry and Construction Yersaiyn Nagaspayev said.

In the transport sector, an AI-powered platform automatically checks documents, plans routes, tracks cargo movement, and determines required permits, reducing border crossing time from four hours to 30 minutes, said Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev.

Digitalization has also reached the railway sector, where around 10 AI-based projects are currently underway.

The government is expanding AI use in public services, including digital assistants for administrative services, legal consultations and business support, officials said.
