TOKYO, May 8 (Xinhua) -- A man on Wednesday morning fired a shot from a gun during a road rage incident in Japan's Tokyo area and fled the scene, according to local police.

According to Metropolitan Police Department's Chofu Police Station, the incident took place at around 2:40 a.m. local time near a residential area in Chofu city of the Tokyo metropolitan area, where a man in his 40s pulled out a gun and fired a shot after two cars almost collided at an intersection.

The victim was driving his car when he attempted to make a right turn at an intersection, as another vehicle approaching from the right ran the red light and nearly collided with it.

The two drivers pulled over to the roadside at another intersection about 120 meters away, and their argument devolved as the suspect fired the shot yelling "I will kill you," local media reports said.

The bullet missed the victim with no injuries reported. The suspect, approximately 170 cm tall and thin, wearing a black baseball cap, jersey and glasses, then fled the scene in a black car, according to the police.

Local police are investigating the incident as attempted murder and are searching for the suspect.
