Afghanistan exports goods worth 145 mln USD via air corridors

KABUL, May 7 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan caretaker government had exported commercial goods worth 145 million U.S. dollars via air corridors during the Persian calendar year of 1402 (March 21, 2023 to March 19, 2024), the country's Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported.

"Afghanistan's exports through the country's airfield in the year of 1402 amounted to 247 tonnes worth 145 million U.S. dollars, consisting of asafoetida, saffron, dried and fresh fruits, precious and semi-precious stones, clothes, chickpeas, carpets, kitchenware, and goat and cow hides," local media TOLOnews quoted the ministry spokesman, Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, as saying on Monday.

The Afghan products were mostly exported via air corridors to India, the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, Iran, Uzbekistan, Germany, and Canada, Jawad explained.

According to the ministry, Afghanistan's total export was estimated at 1.81 billion dollars in the Persian calendar year 1402, down 6 percent year on year.
