TOKYO, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were slightly higher Tuesday in slow trading, as some technology issues were bought amid rising U.S. futures.
Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 51.82 points, or 0.16 percent, from Monday at 33,305.85.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, edged up 1.46 points, or 0.06 percent, higher at 2,338.86.
Stocks were largely flat before rising close to their day's high in the last moments of trading, amid buying on technology stocks as rising futures on the U.S. technology-heavy Nasdaq index raised expectations for the sector when Wall Street reopens on Tuesday, analysts said.
Semiconductor-related firm Lasertec gained 480 yen, or 1.3 percent, to 37,330 yen, while heavyweight peer Advantest added 77 yen, or 1.6 percent, to 4,823 yen. ■
