JAKARTA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian aerospace company PT. Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has delivered a CN235-220 aircraft converted from military transport to a maritime patrol plane ordered by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM).
The aircraft took off at 10:40 a.m. local time on Friday from Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, West Java Province, to Kuching Airport in Sarawak, Malaysia.
"I hope this aircraft can meet the needs of TUDM for now and in the future," said Production Director of PTDI Batara Silaban.
This is the second delivery of three aircraft ordered by Malaysia under the Maritime Security Initiative program.
The first plane was delivered on June 17, while the last plane is targeted for distribution at the end of this year.
The aircraft is equipped with a forward looking infra-red camera to detect and classify objects while recording the surrounding situation and a 360° search radar to see targets up to 200 nautical miles with an automatic tracking system. ■
