KABUL, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Some 1,000 people after receiving police training have been commissioned to the Afghan police forces, authorities said on Tuesday.

Up to 400 police received graduation certificates from Paktia Police Academy Training Center at a ceremony held in eastern Paktia province Tuesday morning, the local government said in a statement.

In southern Kandahar province, 600 recruits graduated from a regional police training center in the provincial capital Kandahar city on Monday, according to the Afghan Ministry of Interior Affairs.

They will be deployed in Kandahar and neighboring Zabul province to ensure law and order, the statement said.

The newly trained personnel held parades during the graduation ceremonies, demonstrating their ability to combat drug trafficking, kidnapping, and other crimes.

The Taliban-run administration has intensified efforts to improve the professionalism of the police and build the capacity of police personnel to ensure law and order in the war-torn Asian country.

On Monday, 500 police recruits joined Afghan police in the northern Afghan region.
