KHARTOUM, May 19 (Xinhua) -- At least 28 people were killed and 25 others injured in a drone attack on a market in Sudan's West Kordofan State on Tuesday, according to local sources.
An anonymous medical source at Ghebeish city's main hospital told Xinhua the bodies of 28 victims and 25 wounded were brought in, with some in critical condition.
An eyewitness told Xinhua a drone struck the crowded central market this morning, destroying a military vehicle parked inside, with shrapnel causing most civilian casualties.
The Darfur Victims Support Organization, a volunteer group, accused the Sudanese army of carrying out the attack. The army has not commented on the accusation.
Sudan has been torn by war between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since mid-April 2023, causing tens of thousands of deaths and mass displacement. ■
