RABAT, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rainfall and flash floods have killed at least 14 people and injured 32 others in Morocco's Atlantic coastal Province of Safi, local authorities said in a statement on Sunday.
The floods were triggered by intense thunderstorms that struck the province within the span of about one hour, inundating dozens of homes and businesses, the statement said.
According to an earlier report by the state news agency MAP, around 70 homes and businesses in the city of Safi were flooded, while 10 vehicles were swept away by the torrents. The floods also damaged roads, causing widespread traffic disruptions, MAP reported.
Authorities said efforts are continuing to search for missing persons and restore road access and public services across the province. ■
