YAOUNDE, July 12 (Xinhua) -- An explosion was heard in Cameroon's capital city of Yaounde at around 2:00 pm local time on Tuesday, witnesses and police told Xinhua.
The blast went off in one of the busy markets called Mokolo market, police confirmed.
"We heard a loud noise. We thought it was thunder and people were running in every direction for safety. It was very scary," Blaise Djeugue, a trader in the market told Xinhua.
It was not clear whether people were injured in the explosion.
It was the second time in a week that a bomb exploded in the market. Last week, the country's Minister of Communication and government spokesman, Rene Emmanuel Sadi urged the citizens to be vigilant after an improvised explosive device exploded in the market, leaving four people injured, two of them in critical condition. ■
