ALGIERS, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Algeria said on Saturday that seven of its citizens were subject to an armed attack in the Gao region of Mali, and three of them were injured.
Algerian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the seven citizens were truck drivers transporting containers to Mali when they were attacked by a group of motorbike-riding armed assailants.
The assailants first attempted to rob the drivers, and when they failed, they used guns to wound three drivers, according to the ministry.
It added that the victims were taken to hospital, with one in critical condition. ■
