MOSCOW, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Russian military said Saturday that it had launched a massive strike overnight against military-industrial, energy and transport infrastructure facilities in Ukraine's capital Kiev and its surrounding region.
Precision-guided land-based weapons and attack drones were deployed in the strike, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on social media.
The Northern Bridge, which the ministry said was used to transport weapons, military equipment and special-purpose vehicles for the Ukrainian armed forces, was hit.
An industrial facility identified as Meridian, which produces the Flamingo operational-tactical and cruise missiles, was also struck, it said.
In the Kiev region, the targets included the Trypilska thermal power plant, with an installed capacity of 1,800 megawatts, and the Kiev 750-kilovolt power substation, according to the ministry.
It also reported a strike on an ammunition, explosives and gunpowder production facility in Brovary, identified as the Powder Metallurgy Plant, which produces components for rocket propellants used in operational-tactical missiles.
In the Zhytomyr region, a 330-kilovolt power substation supplying electricity to Ukraine's military-industrial enterprises was also hit, the ministry said.
In addition, a cargo vessel transporting military equipment and dual-use goods to Ukraine was struck in the Black Sea southeast of Odesa, it added. ■
