SYDNEY, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) - The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) in Western Australia issued a Bushfire Emergency Warning for parts of the Kimberley region on Saturday afternoon, urging residents to take immediate actions as a bushfire threatens lives and homes.

The DFES stated that the high-level warning applies to people in the Ivanhoe agricultural area, including Mulligans Lagoon Road and Weaber Plain Road south to the airstrip in Kununurra, within the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley.

"You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes," the DFES said.

Residents are instructed to leave immediately if the way is clear, heading north or south along Weaber Plain Road toward a safer location, such as with family or friends outside the danger zone. Authorities warned locals not to wait and see, emphasizing that leaving at the last minute could put lives in danger.

For those who are unable to leave, the department advised residents to prepare to shelter in place before the fire arrives, warning that extreme radiant heat can be fatal before the actual flames reach them. ■
