SANAA, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Thirteen military recruits were killed and 65 others wounded on Wednesday in a ballistic missile attack on a military training center in Yemen's southern province of Al-Dhalea, a government military official told Xinhua.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the attack hit a facility in Qatabah district, northern Al-Dhalea, while newly recruited government soldiers were conducting morning exercises.
He blamed the Houthis for the attack.
Also on Wednesday, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported that three children and a woman were killed and four other children wounded when a Saudi airstrike hit a house in the Hayfan district in the southwestern province of Taiz.
In another attack in Taiz, the channel said more than 10 people were killed or wounded in an airstrike on a house in the Maqbanah district, western Taiz.
It also reported Saudi airstrikes on telecommunications facilities in Dhi Na'im district of the central province of Al-Bayda and the Marran area of Saada province, without providing immediate information on casualties.
In a statement on social media platform X, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said Saudi forces had carried out 104 air and missile strikes over the past 24 hours, claiming dozens were killed and wounded, mostly women and children.
The figures could not be independently verified.
The attacks come amid escalating fighting between the Houthis and government forces supported by the Saudi-led coalition, with intensified ground battles and airstrikes across several Yemeni provinces.
The conflict has also spilled into neighboring Saudi Arabia, where the Houthis have claimed repeated missile and drone strikes on airports, military facilities and oil installations.
Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and much of the country's north, prompting the Saudi-led coalition to intervene in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government. ■
