JERUSALEM, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military and Shin Bet security agency said Wednesday that they had killed a senior Hamas intelligence official in an airstrike in Gaza City on Sunday.
In a joint statement, they identified the man as Jamal Abu Saeed, head of operations in Hamas' military intelligence apparatus, saying he had held Israeli hostage Omer Shem Tov captive during the war.
The statement accused Abu Saeed of planning attacks against Israeli troops and civilians and attempting to rebuild Hamas' military capabilities in violation of the ceasefire.
There was no immediate confirmation from Hamas.
Since the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect in October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,602 people, bringing the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 74,618, according to Gaza-based health authorities on Wednesday. ■
