ISLAMABAD, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces killed a militant commander during an intelligence-based operation in the Qila Saifullah district of the country's southwestern Balochistan province, security sources said on Sunday.

According to the sources familiar with the operation, the slain commander was identified as Adil Shah alias Darvesh, who was affiliated with the banned terrorist outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The sources added that the commander had been associated with the group since December 2020 and had managed its financial affairs since 2024.

"He (the commander) was also involved in arranging permanent residences for foreign militants in the districts of Zhob and Sherani of the province, as well as Shaban," added the sources.

The commander had allegedly been involved in attacks on security forces and kidnappings for ransom since 2022.

A total of 19 police cases had been registered against him, and a bounty of 2.5 million Pakistani rupees (about 9,000 U.S. dollars) had also been announced for his capture, according to the sources. ■
