YANGON, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The 27th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competition kicked off in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, President Min Aung Hlaing said artistes must continuously improve their artistic skills and professional standards, and pass on the distinctive beauty of Myanmar art to future generations.
He noted that technological advancements in the current era have created broader opportunities for artistic creation, documentation and dissemination. Making proper use of these opportunities would help foster greater interest in Myanmar art among young people and introduce it to international audiences.
The competition will run until Oct. 29, featuring more than 2,400 contestants competing in various events at the national level traditional cultural performing arts competition, the report said. ■
