RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Mineiro reached the Copa Sudamericana final on Wednesday despite a 2-0 away defeat to Montevideo City Torque.
Atletico took a 3-0 lead into the second leg and looked to be cruising until Ecuadorian midfielder Alan Franco was sent off in the 75th minute.
Torque's Kevin Silva and Gary Kagelmacher scored late, but the visitors held on to prevail 3-2 on aggregate and clinch a berth in the final against Boca Juniors on Nov. 21.
Boca is aiming for its first continental trophy since its Recopa Sudamericana triumph in 2008, while Atletico Mineiro is vying for its first continental title since 2014. ■
