CANBERRA, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- A 46-year-old man has been charged after Australian police seized firearms, drugs and multiple prohibited weapons from his home in Canberra, police said on Thursday.

According to a statement from Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Policing, officers executed a search warrant at the man's home in the northern Canberra suburb of Evatt at about 4:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday as part of a separate investigation into an alleged kidnapping earlier this month.

Police discovered a credit card firearm, a revolver, a handgun-style gel blaster and ammunition during the search.

Officers also seized crossbows, batons, knuckle dusters, tasers, throwing star knives, throwing axes, pepper spray and cannabis.

The man was arrested and charged with 14 offences, including 11 counts of possessing a prohibited weapon without authorisation, as well as offences relating to prohibited firearms, cannabis trafficking and failure to comply with a police order.

He is expected to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday. ■
