ST. PETERSBURG, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- China and Russia agreed on Wednesday to continuously promote high-quality development of bilateral trade, according to a joint communique issued after the 31st regular meeting between Chinese and Russian heads of government.

The two sides noted that bilateral trade and economic cooperation has maintained steady and healthy growth despite external headwinds, said the communique released at the conclusion of the meeting co-chaired by Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in St. Petersburg.

The two sides pledged to work together to further strengthen trade and economic cooperation, ensuring its steady and comprehensive improvement in quality and level.

The two sides agreed to consolidate and expand trade, further optimize the structure of goods and foster new growth drivers in areas such as cross-border e-commerce, the digital economy, and green and low-carbon development.

The two countries would also strengthen cooperation in services trade and elevate the level of trade facilitation, the communique said. ■
