MOSCOW, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Russia can resume natural gas supplies to Europe via an intact Nord Stream pipeline if Europeans are willing, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Wednesday.
"One line out of four remains operational. If European consumers, European countries and politicians are willing, gas can be supplied through this line," Novak said when asked whether it would be possible to resume Russian gas supplies to Europe.
He said the resumption of supplies depends primarily on Germany, where the pipeline terminates, adding that the other three lines are technically repairable should the need arise.
On Sept. 26, 2022, the Nord Stream pipelines transporting natural gas from Russia to Europe were ruptured in a series of explosions underneath the Baltic Sea near Sweden and Denmark. Sweden, Denmark, and Germany called the incident a deliberate act of sabotage. ■
