CAIRO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) on Wednesday dispatched a new humanitarian aid convoy to the Gaza Strip, carrying more than 3,439 tonnes of supplies, amid a rising death toll in the enclave despite an ongoing ceasefire.

The convoy carried food baskets, flour, relief and medical supplies, and petroleum products needed to operate hospitals and other vital facilities in Gaza, the ERC said in a statement.

It also included tents and blankets to help ease the suffering of Palestinian residents as winter approaches, the statement said.

It was the 300th convoy sent from Egypt to Gaza since the ERC launched its pro-Gaza humanitarian aid initiative in late July 2025, according to the statement.

The total amount of humanitarian and relief aid delivered to Gaza from Egypt has exceeded 1 million tonnes through the efforts of more than 75,000 volunteers, it added.

Since a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect in October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,534 people, bringing the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 74,494, according to Gaza-based health authorities on Wednesday. ■
