LAS VEGAS, United States, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- China showcased its tourism offerings at IMEX America 2026, which opened Tuesday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The three-day trade show brought together tourism officials and industry representatives from several Chinese provinces and regions under the national tourism brand "Nihao! China." It marks China's third consecutive year of participation in the exhibition for the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry.

The Chinese pavilion features the theme "China: Where Business Meets Extraordinary Experiences," highlighting the country's modern convention and exhibition facilities, international hospitality services, and diverse cultural and tourism resources.

Tourism authorities and companies from Beijing, Hunan, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Sichuan and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region are showcasing their destinations and services through individual booths. By combining natural landscapes with distinctive cultural attractions, the exhibitors aim to highlight the diversity of China's MICE destinations.

The China National Tourist Office in Los Angeles has organized more than 20 presentations to introduce China's latest MICE tourism destinations, products and developments to international industry professionals.

Wu Dawei, director of the China National Tourist Office in Los Angeles, said China's competitiveness in the international MICE market has strengthened in recent years as the country expands its opening to the world. Visa-free entry and transit policies have been further optimized, while international transportation links, mobile payment services and services for receiving inbound visitors have continued to improve.

China's participation in IMEX America is intended to deepen cooperation with international industry partners and encourage more international meetings and corporate incentive travel programs to choose China, Wu said.

Marta Pani, a lead project manager at Italy-based event management company Event Planet Group, told reporters that the company plans to hold an international medical conference in China next year.

"We always look for nice venues, nice cities that appeal to guests," she said.

She added that Beijing is certainly a popular tourist destination, but China has much more to offer beyond its major cities. "My knowledge of China is admittedly limited, but from what I've seen and heard, there's much more to explore beyond central Beijing."

IMEX America is one of the world's largest annual trade shows for the meetings and incentive travel industry. This year's event is expected to draw more than 17,000 professionals and feature more than 3,700 exhibitors representing destinations, venues, hotels, service providers and event planning companies worldwide. ■
