MINSK, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The main focus for the Belarusian defense sector is countering unmanned aerial vehicles, Dmitry Pantus, head of the State Authority for Military Industry, told Belarus 1 TV Channel on Sunday.
The defense sector collaborates closely with the National Academy of Sciences to identify roughly 15 areas, which have been consolidated into a single plan and organized into active work, with the core objective to counter unmanned aerial vehicles, Pantus said.
He said that concrete progress, including the domestically produced Shafran system, has entered service and is being modernized to boost its tactical and technical performance.
In the last six months, two advanced domestically produced stations for detecting low-flying targets have been commissioned, he added. ■
