GAZA, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Five Palestinians died in Israeli army fire in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, including a child who died from wounds sustained on Saturday, according to Palestinian sources.
Local sources told Xinhua that an Israeli drone fired at least one missile at a mobile phone charging station in the al-Buraq area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Sunday evening, causing a loud explosion.
Medical sources told Xinhua that medical teams recovered the bodies of four Palestinians killed in the strike and treated several others wounded, some seriously. The casualties were taken to Nasser Medical Complex in the city.
The Israeli army did not immediately comment on the strike.
Meanwhile, medical sources announced the death of seven-year-old Jihad al-Ghandour, who succumbed to wounds sustained on Saturday after being shot by the Israeli army in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
Since a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect in October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,488 people, bringing the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 74,377, according to Gaza-based health authorities on Sunday. ■
