BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.05 percent to 3,813.79 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.17 percent higher at 12,641.86 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices totaled about 1.9 trillion yuan (approximately 282.19 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.68 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Film and television, precious metals, cybersecurity, and brokerage sectors led the gains, while computing hardware, wind power equipment, semiconductor, and banking sectors saw the biggest declines.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.22 percent to close at 3,043.33 points Friday.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.34 percent lower at 1,726.71 points. ■
