ISLAMABAD, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- A child was killed and four people were injured in separate rain-related roof collapse incidents in Mardan district of Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday, rescue officials said.
A seven-year-old boy was killed in the Katlang area when the roof of a room in his house caved in due to heavy rain, a spokesperson for Rescue 1122 told Xinhua. The boy's mother and his minor sister were injured in the incident.
In a similar incident in the Bala Ghari area, two women were injured after a roof collapsed. They were shifted to the Mardan Medical Complex for medical treatment.
Heavy rain lashed large parts of the province during the day. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the provincial capital Peshawar received 38mm of rainfall, the heaviest in the province, leading to inundation of major arteries. ■
