JERUSALEM, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military said on Monday it had killed Shadi Abu Hasira, whom it described as a key money exchanger for Hamas' armed wing, in an airstrike in Gaza City a day earlier.
The military said Abu Hasira headed a money exchange network, which it alleged had transferred tens of millions of shekels in foreign currency to Hamas to finance fighters, rebuild military infrastructure and plan attacks.
It said Abu Hasira had also recently been involved in efforts to restore Hamas' capabilities and plan attacks on Israeli troops and civilians.
Israeli strikes have continued in Gaza despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that took effect in October 2025, with both Israel and Hamas accusing the other of violations. ■
