BISHKEK, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Total assets of Kyrgyzstan's banking sector reached 1.4761 trillion soms (about 16.9 billion U.S. dollars) as of July 31, up 21.9 percent from the beginning of the year, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has said.
The loan portfolio of the country's commercial banks increased by 22.2 percent over the reported period to 619.3 billion soms, the central bank announced in a post Wednesday on its official Telegram channel.
Meanwhile, deposits grew by 3.9 percent over the same period to 900.2 billion soms.
As of July 31, 26 commercial banks and 306 branches were operating in Kyrgyzstan. ■
