JERUSALEM. Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) on Tuesday launched sales of a new electric car model in Israel, according to local importer Orion Mobility.

The Aion UT model, a compact electric hatchback, is equipped with a 60-kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 430 km and a top speed of 160 km/h.

It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and charges from 30 to 80 percent in 24 minutes.

GAC entered the Israeli market in September 2025 with the Aion V and Aion Y compact SUVs and the Hyptec HT mid-size coupe.

During the first eight months of 2026, the company sold 1,242 units of these three electric models in Israel, placing it seventh in the country's electric car sales rankings for the period, according to the Israel Vehicle Importers Association.

Chinese automakers Xpeng and BYD Auto led the market during the period, selling 4,011 and 3,184 cars, respectively.
