BAGHDAD, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Five rockets targeted several areas in northern Iraq's Sulaymaniyah province in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region early Monday morning, causing no casualties, the regional security agency Asayish said in a statement.
The attack occurred at around 3:10 a.m. local time (0010 GMT), it said, adding that no casualties were recorded and urging citizens to stay away from the impact sites.
Meanwhile, a Kurdish security source, speaking to Xinhua on condition of anonymity, said the rocket strikes targeted camps belonging to Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, and an investigation has been launched to determine those responsible.
Iranian Kurdish opposition sites in the mountainous regions near the Iraq-Iran border in the Kurdistan region sporadically come under artillery and aerial strikes by Iranian forces. ■
