DAR ES SALAAM, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The 28th Chinese medical team in mainland Tanzania on Saturday provided free medical consultation and health services to frontline staff working in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania.
The medical team offered consultations, physical examinations and health assessments, covering specialties including cardiology, neurosurgery, hand and foot surgery, otorhinolaryngology and traditional Chinese medicine.
They also distributed medicines free of charge and donated medical supplies. In addition, the team conducted training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, fieldwork safety and emergency treatment for injuries and illnesses, helping staff strengthen their capacity to protect their health while working in the field.
Mashaka Ramadhani, assistant head of the Ngorongoro-Lengai Geological Heritage Museum, said frontline staff in the conservation area frequently conduct field patrols, exposing them to health risks. Meanwhile, access to healthcare can be difficult because of the nature of their work.
He expressed appreciation for the medical outreach, saying it helped identify potential health risks and promoted health-related people-to-people exchanges between Tanzania and China.
Liu Jia, head of the medical team, said the team would continue extending healthcare services to grassroots communities across Tanzania. ■
