ISLAMABAD, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces killed 11 terrorists in two intelligence-based operations in the country's southwest Balochistan province, the military said on Wednesday.
The operations were conducted in Kharan and Washuk districts on Sept. 6 and 7 following reports about the presence of terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in a statement.
Eight terrorists were killed after security forces intercepted them while they were attempting to establish a roadblock and disrupt traffic in Kharan district on Sept. 6, the ISPR said.
In a separate operation in Washuk district on Sept. 7, security forces raided a terrorist hideout and killed three of them following an intense exchange of fire, it added.
Security forces also recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives allegedly intended for the preparation of improvised explosive devices, according to the statement.
Sanitization operations were underway in the areas to eliminate any remaining militants, the ISPR said. ■
