NANJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- As the world continues to grapple with security challenges, an international conference that opened Wednesday in China is exploring how greater unity in public security governance can help build a more stable world, with an alliance expected to be established during the event to combat telecom and online fraud.
More than 2,100 officials, experts and scholars from 139 countries, regions and international organizations have been invited to take part in the 2026 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum, held in Lianyungang, east China's Jiangsu Province.
They will exchange views on cooperation in areas including immigration management, international drug control, counterterrorism and cybersecurity through a series of sub-forums.
An exhibition running alongside the conference is also offering a glimpse into China's public security industry, with more than 100 companies showcasing equipment and technologies for public safety and policing.
The exhibition features sections on equipment and technologies, overseas security service solutions, integrated services for equipment exports, specialized vehicles, as well as six sections dedicated to different police specialties.
Among the technologies on display are robots designed to handle hazardous situations where it may be unsafe for people to enter.
Another highlight is an AI-powered drone designed to identify and capture targets using a net.
"It can automatically identify and lock onto targets such as stray animals that pose a threat to people, fugitives and even unauthorized drones," said Zheng Zhaokai, an exhibitor. "It can then deploy a net to capture the target."
The conference is expected to produce reports on the global public security index for 2025-2026 and the forum's work over the past year, along with sub-forum initiatives and reports on immigration policy, counterterrorism, public security standards and international police education.
Since its inaugural conference in 2022, the forum has organized more than 30 sub-forums, seminars and roundtable discussions, drawing nearly 8,000 government and international organization representatives, as well as experts and scholars.
Over the years, the forum has grown into a platform for practical global public security cooperation, helping bring together efforts from around the world to strengthen global security governance. ■
