GAZA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians, including a child, were killed and several others injured on Sunday in an Israeli strike targeting a vehicle west of Gaza City, according to medical and local sources.

Local sources reported that an Israeli drone fired a missile at a civilian vehicle in the al-Nasr neighborhood, triggering an explosion and a fire.

Medical sources told Xinhua that two people, including a child, were killed and five others sustained varying injuries in the strike. The injured were taken to Al-Shifa Medical Complex.

Earlier, seven people were injured in an Israeli airstrike near the Abu Assi School, which shelters displaced people north of the Al-Shati refugee camp, also west of Gaza City.

The Israeli military has yet to comment on the two airstrikes. Tensions persist in Gaza despite a fragile ceasefire, with sporadic Israeli airstrikes continuing across the enclave.

Since a ceasefire took effect in October 2025, Gaza-based health authorities said, 1,344 Palestinians have been killed and 4,481 wounded in the enclave, bringing the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 73,651, with 174,592 wounded.
