KABUL, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan has issued 203,693 visas to foreign nationals over the past year, a government spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference in the capital, Zabihullah Mujahid said Kabul had significantly expanded its economic partnerships with neighboring states as well as with leading powers in the region and beyond, guided by a balanced and economy-centric foreign policy.
Mujahid said that senior officials from various Afghan state institutions undertook 93 visits to regional and other countries over the course of the year, a diplomatic drive aimed at fortifying both political ties and commercial cooperation.
The spokesperson noted that passport issuance services for Afghan citizens are now fully operational at 28 Afghan diplomatic missions and consulates abroad. ■
