BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Red Bull's Isack Hadjar will miss this weekend's Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix because of a wrist injury, with Liam Lawson stepping up from Racing Bulls to replace him.

"Isack Hadjar has sustained a wrist injury during the summer shutdown that will prevent him from racing at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix," read a Red Bull statement.

"We will be welcoming back Liam Lawson who will replace him in the RB22 this weekend.

"The team wishes Isack a speedy recovery and thanks Liam for stepping in on short notice."

Hadjar's absence gives Lawson an unexpected return to Red Bull. The New Zealander was promoted from Racing Bulls to replace Sergio Perez at the start of the 2025 season but was demoted after just two races.

Lawson's F1 race career also began with an injury-related call-up at the Dutch Grand Prix three years ago, when he replaced Daniel Ricciardo at the team then known as AlphaTauri after the Australian broke his hand in a practice crash.

The reshuffle will also bring Red Bull reserve Yuki Tsunoda back to the grid, with the Japanese driver taking Lawson's place at Racing Bulls.

Tsunoda made 89 starts for the team under its AlphaTauri and Racing Bulls names before replacing Lawson at Red Bull last year. He was subsequently dropped from Red Bull's race lineup after failing to impress.

Hadjar now has two weeks to recover before the Italian Grand Prix on September 6.
