JAKARTA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Money Transactions using Indonesia's Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) surged about 82.4 percent year on year in July 2026 amid growing adoption of digital payments, Bank Indonesia said Wednesday.

"The strong growth in QRIS transactions was driven by an increase in the number of users and merchants accepting the payment system," Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti told a press conference.

Overall, digital payment transaction volume reached 5.50 billion Indonesia Rupiah (about 310,000 U.S. dollars) in July, up 28.69 percent from a year earlier.

Transaction volumes through internet and mobile applications increased 9.39 percent and 24.25 percent year on year, respectively, supported by wider adoption of digital payment services.

QRIS has been used for cross-border payments in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and China, with expansion to India and the United Arab Emirates under preparation.
