DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's central bank on Friday launched a sovereign yield curve, a key financial benchmark expected to enhance transparency, efficiency and investor confidence in the country's government securities market.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Dar es Salaam, Emmanuel Tutuba, governor of the Bank of Tanzania, said the new framework marks a major milestone in the modernization of the country's domestic financial markets, providing a reliable reference for pricing government securities and other financial instruments.
Tutuba said the yield curve addresses longstanding information gaps by providing real-time data on market-based yields derived from secondary market transactions.
"The benchmark will strengthen interest rate-based monetary policy transmission and support the accurate valuation of financial instruments," Tutuba said.
Officials said the yield curve, which will be published daily, will also include a pricing calculator to help investors convert yields into prices and make informed investment decisions. ■
