New industries, business formats, business models make big contributions to the Chinese economy

BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China's new growth drivers continued to expand steadily in 2025, contributing a greater share to the country's gross domestic product (GDP), official data showed on Thursday.

The value-added output of the "three new" economy, referring to new industries, new business formats and new business models, reached nearly 25.79 trillion yuan (about 3.8 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2025, up 6.2 percent year on year, the National Bureau of Statistics said.

Their share of GDP rose to 18.39 percent in 2025, marking a 0.38 percentage point increase from the previous year.

Within the "three new" economy, the added value of the primary industry reached 986.5 billion yuan, accounting for 3.8 percent of the total. The secondary industry contributed 10.63 trillion yuan, accounting for 41.2 percent. The tertiary industry reached 14.17 trillion yuan, accounting for 55 percent.

Meanwhile, recent data showed that the country's high-tech manufacturing sustained rapid expansion in the first half of 2026, with value-added industrial output in high-tech manufacturing rising by 13.3 percent year on year.
