BEIRUT, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Two paramedics from the Civil Defense of Lebanon's Islamic Health Authority were injured in an Israeli strike in the southern Lebanese town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, the authority said on Thursday.
In a statement, the Islamic Health Authority said the incident occurred while its civil defense team was inspecting the site of an initial strike in the Al-Barid neighborhood of the town.
The Israeli military targeted the vicinity of the rescue operation, injuring two paramedics and damaging the team's ambulance, according to the statement.
The authority added that its ambulance teams recovered the bodies of three people from inside the southern Lebanese town of Zawtar al-Gharbiya, noting that search and rescue operations were continuing.
The authority condemned the attack, saying it would not deter its teams from carrying out their humanitarian mission of assisting those in need and evacuating the wounded. ■
