KARAWANG, Indonesia, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese machinery giant LiuGong broke ground on its green and smart industrial park here in West Java Province on Wednesday, an event attended by over 300 guests including government officials, industry partners, and customers.
Dedi Mulyadi, governor of West Java, said in his speech that the project will inject new momentum into the province's manufacturing development. He reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to supporting the park's construction, creating a favorable business environment, and fostering mutual benefits for both sides.
Zheng Jin, chairman of Guangxi LiuGong Group Co., Ltd. and Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd., said that the industrial park represents an important practice in LiuGong's long-term commitment to the Indonesian market.
"LiuGong will continue to deepen partnerships across Indonesia and other ASEAN countries, foster innovation through open collaboration, and work with industry partners to support sustainable industrial development and the green transformation of the region," Zheng said.
For his part, Luo Guobing, vice chairman and president of Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd., said the park is more than a manufacturing plant. "It is a green and smart industrial platform integrating manufacturing, R&D, talent development and industrial collaboration."
"LiuGong will establish an Indonesia Product Application R&D Center and partner with Universitas Gadjah Mada to promote technology transfer and cultivate local talent, injecting new momentum into the sustainable development of Indonesia's construction equipment industry," he said.
As part of its localization strategy, LiuGong has trained over 900 local students since joining a China-Indonesia school cooperation program in 2023. Currently, a new cohort of 30 Indonesian trainees is receiving professional training at LiuGong's headquarters in China, and they will join the manufacturing base in Indonesia upon completion of their studies.
Scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2027, the park will become Indonesia's first manufacturing plant dedicated to electric heavy equipment, helping position Indonesia as LiuGong's production hub for the Asia-Pacific region.
Since initiating its globalization strategy in 2002, LiuGong has established over 40 overseas subsidiaries, more than 20 manufacturing plants, and 17 global R&D bases, providing products and services across more than 180 countries and regions. ■
