BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Water Resources said on Tuesday that water levels in 10 rivers across Guangxi, Yunnan, Jiangsu and Xinjiang have exceeded warning thresholds.

Regarding the causes of the flood risks, the ministry said that Guangxi, Yunnan and Jiangsu have been hit by heavy rainfall, while high temperatures in Xinjiang are accelerating snowmelt.

As of Tuesday, the ministry also maintained a Level-IV flood emergency response for Guangxi, Hubei and Hunan.

Heavy rainfall is forecast to hit 12 provincial-level regions, including Hebei, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Xinjiang, the ministry said, adding that it has issued tailored alerts to these regions, warning of high-risk local areas and reservoirs, as well as areas prone to mountain torrents.

China is currently in its main flood season, with multiple regions across the country grappling with flooding and related risks.
