JERUSALEM, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Israel has launched a national quantum computing research and development plan worth 100 million shekels (about 32.9 million U.S. dollars), the Israel Innovation Authority said on Monday.
The plan aims to help local companies and universities develop and test advanced quantum computing technologies by establishing a national center where researchers and businesses can access different types of quantum computers, the authority said in a statement.
The center will combine at least three quantum computing technologies and provide services from hardware testing to software development and training, it said, adding that quantum computing is expected to help solve problems beyond current computers' reach in fields such as healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, materials science, and scientific research.
The project is set for completion within 18 months, with research services available in the first year, the statement said. ■
