BERLIN, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Eintracht Frankfurt has signed Germany under-21 midfielder Noel Aseko from Bayern Munich on a contract until June 2031, the Bundesliga club announced on Saturday.
"The move to Eintracht is an important step in my career. I am convinced that Frankfurt is the right place for me," Aseko said.
The 20-year-old joins Frankfurt after spending 18 months on loan at second-tier Hannover 96, where he established himself as a regular during the 2025-26 season.
Born in Berlin, Aseko began at Hertha Berlin before moving to Bayern in 2022. He broke into senior football with Bayern's reserve side, making his Regionalliga debut aged 16 years and 10 months. Bayern handed him a professional contract in 2024 before sending him to Hannover on loan in February 2025.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, the 1.78-meter player can also operate as a central midfielder or full-back. Frankfurt said he ranked among Hannover's leading players last season for duels won, distance covered and top speed.
Aseko has represented Germany 23 times at youth level, including five appearances for the under-21 team.
Frankfurt sporting chief Markus Krosche said the midfielder had shown he was physically ready for the next step. "He has impressively shown in Hannover, in a physically demanding league, that he also has the physical requirements for the next step," Krosche said.
He also praised Aseko's attacking drive and anticipation, while stressing that his immediate task would be to settle quickly and integrate. Bayern had originally planned to include Aseko in their first-team squad after his return from Hannover but later changed course and agreed to sell him.
The Berlin-born midfielder is now set to make his first Bundesliga appearances with Frankfurt. ■
