UNITED NATIONS, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Military activities in Gaza force more displacements and settler violence in the West Bank has become the leading cause of Palestinian injuries, UN humanitarians said on Thursday.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said people in Gaza continue to bear the brunt of ongoing military activities and repeated forced displacement.

The World Food Programme on Wednesday said that as people are being forced to move, they risk losing access to basic services and assistance.

OCHA said that, in the first 12 days of this month, the United Nations and its partners provided general food assistance to more than 250,000 people across 36 distribution sites.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said on Thursday that it scaled up its cash assistance program to help 1,500 Palestinian farmers cultivate land across the Gaza Strip during the 2026 planting season.

"This will help farmers produce enough fresh vegetables for more than 100,000 people and improve access to nutritious food for vulnerable communities," FAO said.

OCHA also said its humanitarian partners continued to distribute learning and teaching supplies to students and teachers during the first week of July.

"More than 5,440 educational kits, which include copybooks, markers and pencils, will help about 217,600 girls and boys during summer learning activities, which started last Saturday," the office said.

In the West Bank, OCHA said it led a high-level delegation to the village of Deir Nidham in the Ramallah governorate. Participants met with Palestinian families affected by Israeli settler violence and the expansion of settlement outposts.

The delegation heard directly from affected communities about the risks that families face, as well as the humanitarian consequences for their daily lives and livelihoods.

OCHA said the settler attacks have become a leading cause of Palestinian injuries in the West Bank, accounting for 55 percent of all injuries in 2026. It reiterated that Palestinians in the West Bank must be protected as required by international humanitarian law.
