JAKARTA, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's realized investment rose 7.2 percent year on year to 1,010.6 trillion rupiah (about 56 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of 2026, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani said Thursday.

The half-year figure accounted for 49.5 percent of the government's full-year investment target of 2,041.3 trillion rupiah, Rosan told reporters at the presidential palace in Jakarta.

Investment outside Java slightly exceeded that on the country's main economic island, reaching 507.8 trillion rupiah, or 50.2 percent of the total. Investment in Java totaled 502.8 trillion rupiah.

The investments created 1.45 million jobs in the first six months of the year, up 15 percent from the same period in 2025.

Indonesia has been seeking to attract more investment outside Java as part of efforts to promote more balanced economic development across the archipelago.
